The suggested hook size for getting these small baitfish is a #8 long shank style. The best bait to use to catch them is small bits of cut squid. I like to rig for Pinfish with a bell sinker attached to the bottom of the line; this makes it easy to feel when the Pinfish bite.
When I was catching the Snook on the beach I was rigged with a #1 silver J-hook, 25 lb. test fluorocarbon leader and 20 lb. test braid. Pinfish are one of the best baits to use when Snook fishing.
