The rose is the most famous flower in the world and there are literally thousands of varieties to choose from! Rather than just grabbing the first one off the shelf at the garden centre, I find it's best to pick one depending on the part of the garden you need it for. I’ve chosen 7, one for every potential situation.
ALAN IS USING:
Roses from Blue Diamond Garden Centres - https://rb.gy/xsfvf1
Compost from Melcourt - https://rb.gy/l3sizj
Tools from Spear and Jackson - https://rb.gy/6wl4lh
Table and Bench Dining Set from Forest Garden - https://rb.gy/j361qt
Here are the Roses I’ve gone for:
Standard Rose: ‘Carefree Days’ - Standard Roses work like small trees, ideal as focal points for entrances and adding height to patios.
Patio Rose: ‘Crimson Sweet Dream’ - Patio Roses are perfect for small spaces as they work great in a pot. This variety packs a big punch for such a small Rose - stunning colour and subtle scent.
Shrub Rose: ‘Ballerina’ - I love Shrub Roses and have many in my borders. If you are looking for a long flowering variety that will add punch to the middle of a bed this variety is a great choice.
Climber Rose: ‘Swan Lake’ - Climbing Roses bring elegance and beauty AND height to walls and fences and this variety is an absolute corker
Rambler Rose: ‘Super Fairy’ - If you a going for a classic cottage garden look, the rambler is the climbing rose to go for. This variety has a pink tinge and will look stunning climbing up through an old tree at the end of its life.
Hybrid Tea Rose: ‘Wedding Day’ - Hybrid T’s are the supermodels of the Rose world - if you like cream flowers this one is a great choice, but if your looking for a real show stopper then I’d go for ‘Nostalgia’ with its stunning pink and white petals.
