Climbers are a great way to transform bare walls and blank fences into a riot of foliage, flowers and even scent. They are one of my favourite types of plant, so much in fact that it was impossible to get my favourites down to 5!
So I’ve chosen seven with options for sun and shade. Hopefully you’ll find something that suits your garden!
Plus I show you an option for planting a climber in a small space. A solanum in a trellis planter is a great way to bring height to a small garden.

Comment below on which are your favourites if any of these are your favourites or if you have others you’d recommend.
Here are the climbers that made my top 7:
1 – Clematis ‘Shimmer’
2 – Clematis ‘Montana’
3 – Lonicera ‘Scentsation’ (Honeysuckle)
4 – Hydrangea petiolaris
5 – Thunbergia ‘Black Eyed Susan’
6 – Rhyncospermum Jasminoides
7 – Solanum crispum ‘Glasnevin’
