Prosecutors allege Nick fled the scene, stayed at a Santa Monica hotel where blood was later found, and was arrested hours later at a gas station, with reports describing erratic behavior following a heated argument with his father at a Hollywood party the night before. In court, Reiner appeared briefly out of view as his attorney requested a delay to enter a plea, with the judge setting the next hearing for January 7 while the death penalty remains a possibility.
