The core principle in golf is that you have to play the ball where it lies, meaning that you must play your ball from where it rests, even if it is in a difficult position. Moreover, you cannot move the ball to a better spot or improve your lie. For example, in my last tournament, I ended up with the ball just outside the bunker on the upslope, on hole 14.
