Summary👇🏽
Lateral forces:
To start the swing: a push towards the target to send the body away from the target
To start the downswing: a push away from the target to send the body towards the target:
Impact: Another push towards the target to decelerate & transfer the energy to the club head (and not fall over).
Anterior Posterior (AP) Forces:
If you do a little jump spin clockwise / counterclockwise (as seen in the video) your feet are creating these forces. If you stand on a hardwood floor in socks and try and make these motions you’ll notice your feet slip in the opposite direction as the direction you want to twist.
Backswing: Counterclockwise feet for clockwise rotation
Downswing: Clockwise feet for counterclockwise rotation.
Vertical forces:
A simple jump. To jump your feet have to push down the harder you push down the higher you jump. These are the last forces we want to apply in the downswing around lead arm parallel.
Order of pushes in downswing:
1: Lateral Forces (initiate downswing)
2: AP Forces (just before lead arm parallel)
3: Vertical Forces (around lead arm parallel)
The coolest part about all this is these forces can all be measured by the @smart2move plates I’m standing on. Can set them up anywhere and use an iPad to look at it all. So if you really want to get dialed go find a coach with a set and get after it 🤘🏽
