How Greed Ruined Hobbies

Greed has infected all hobbies like the plague from video games and Pokemon cards to sneakers and even coloring books. It feels like collecting is now just a hostile space or an expensive chore. Gaming is all about micro transactions and DLC’s to suck their consumers out of all of their money. Companies like Nintendo recycle the same 10 year old games and still charge $80 for them. These cash grabs constantly nickel and dime us yet no one seems to care by still buying these companies products.

Hobbies like card collecting and sneakers are ruined by artificial scarcity and a culture focused on money from scalpers and resellers. Grown men buy all the product before kids can get any cards, and there is constant chaos within the community which brands use to profit. There is a constant pressure to “invest” in products to sell and create content around your hobbies to make money. We are so cooked. Nothing can be enjoyed for entertainment or relaxation anymore without the greed of companies and scalpers trying to take advantage of the average consumer.
