ColorTok, BookTok, and other hobby corners of social media have completely changed how we approach things like coloring, reading, and other creative hobbies.
What used to be relaxing and fun now feels like a competition. There’s pressure to buy more, show off hauls, and make everything aesthetic and content-worthy — even if you’re just trying to enjoy a book or pick up coloring for fun. We’ll look at how TikTok turns hobbies into shopping sprees, why collecting has replaced actually doing the hobby, and how all of this impacts creators and viewers alike. Are hobbies still hobbies… or are they just content now?
