k - knit
p - purl
s - slip
wyif - with yarn in front



The written instructions for working the woven stitch are as follows:


Flat, over an even number of stitches:
Row 1 (Right Side): knit
Row 2: (Wrong Side): *s1, p1; rep from * to end of row
Row 3: Knit
Row 4: *p1, s1; rep from * to end of row


To work over an even number of stitches in the round:
Round 1: knit
Round 2: *k1, s1-wyif; rep from * to end of round
Round 3: knit
Round 4: *s1-wyif, k1; rep from * to end of round
