Welcome to I’ll Knit (& Spin!) If I want To! I asked y’all to send in some of your questions (from everything from fiber arts, to designing and on!) so I could put together a little video for y’all every Friday doing my best to answer your questions!

In this week’s episode we cover:

1. Hello Andrea, I want to knit the Briochealicious shawl for someone who is sensitive to most yarns being too itchy. I recently used madelinetosh Tosh Merino Light (first time using superwash yarn) in a shawl and loved how soft and non itchy it was. I would like to use the suggested yarn, Tosh Sock but am curious to know how the shawl kept its shape. I know superwash yarn grows and combining that with brioche, is the shawl going to grow a lot after wearing? What has your experience been like with brioche and superwash yarn.

2. My knitting nemesis is row gauge. I always have more rows per 4" than the pattern gauge. I want to knit a sweater, but struggle with figuring how how to change the yoke portion of a sweater to match my gauge. is there a particular sweater construction I should look for so that I would know that the yoke is based on measurement rather than the number of rows?

3. Hi Andrea, I finally casted on boho blush and am really enjoying it so far! I’ve never done brioche and feel like a superstar after finishing the first four rows of it. My question is about the edging - I know you’ve added yarn overs on one row and for them to be dropped on the next to help give the edge more stretch, but is it possible that I’m still making it too tight? I know I’m early in the project but I just don’t know if I should rip it out and start over, being extra mindful not to tighten those edge stitches. When I spread my progress out on the cable it doesn’t feel like I would be able to block it out without it puckering bc the edge is too tight but the middle isn’t. Hope that makes sense. Thank you!

4. Hi Andrea! Love your podcast and designs so much! I have a question for you that really has me stumped. I am in my summer knitting era and I’m loving the versatility of being able to knit for all seasons. I am almost finished with a top down tank top and I just realized that I somehow miscounted and the strap on one side is about an inch shorter than the strap on the other side, HELP! The straps were essentially knit in 4 pieces using a provisional cast on. My question is: Is there any way that I can unpick the join from one strap to add more length? I have tried googling but I’m not finding any helpful information. Please help save me!

5. My question is Where is the best place to join a new ball of yarn - at the beginning of the row or in the middle. TIA. love your podcasts 😊
