Welcome to I’ll Knit (& Spin!) If I want To! I asked y’all to send in some of your questions (from everything from fiber arts, to designing and on!) so I could put together a little video for y’all every Friday doing my best to answer your questions!

In this week’s episode we cover:
1. I've knit the DRK Everyday sweater, and love to wear it. It fits great and my gauge is almost spot on. However the collar is too loose, and doesn't lay flat around my neck, but stands up and is wrinkly. I'm planning to knit another one, what can I do to avoid this too open collar? I've used De Rerun Ulyssee as yarn, and knit continental style (which is looser than if I knit English style). Thanks so much!
2. Hi! I recently made a lovely lace hat(penny hat- tcknits) with a couple inches of ribbing. I used a long tail cast on which is my go -to method. The problem is I feel like there's a tight string around the bottom when I put it on. Everything else is great & it'll be fine once I block it but I'm thinking there's got to be a better cast on. Do you have a favorite method for hats? Thanks!

3. hi andrea!! i have been following you for quite a while and look forward to watching your podcast at the start of the weekend :) i like to knit socks, in fact i have a handful of them that i love but they are slippery. i have some health conditions and have to be careful in what i choose to wear (socks, shoes, etc). i was wondering if you have any recommendations on how to make the socks less slippery. i have thought of adding little hot glue dots on my socks but am scared that it will ruin them… i absolutely love your work, thank you for being such an inspiration 🩷
4. First of all thanks for an interesting and informative podcast. It's always so fun to learn more about knitting from everyone's questions. I have a questions about gauge that has been lingering in my mind for quite a while now. I have several times experienced my final row gauge growing a lot in the finished garment compared to my swatch. The most extreme example was a garter stitch long cardigan where length and arms grew so much in blocking that I frogged back a whole skein of yarn! I guess this effect is due to the fact that there is quite some weight dragging down the fabric in the garment which is not the case in the swatch. My question to you is if you have any suggestion how I could get a more accurate gauge swatch from the beginning. I mid block my projects a lot, but it would be nice to also be able to rely more on my swatch.
I always block my swatches, I knit a bit more than 10x10 cm swatch and when blocking my garment I am very careful not to let any of the fabric hang during the process of blocking so this wouldn't stretch it out.
5 . Hi Andrea! I knit my husband a sweater every fall and this year he chose Gib! The sweater looks like fun to knit but last time I knit him a raglan he disliked how the increases gave the neckline a squared-off effect. I think I can make this better by adding some short rows to create a little crescent of fabric that rounds off the back of the neck - but where should they go? If I add them just before the pattern short rows it would interrupt the line of the raglan increases at the neckline. Could I add them in the neck ribbing, or would that look odd on the finished product? Thanks for your help!
