A Recap: #1 Remove Unnecessary Space You have to be able to fill the frame with your portrait.
#2 Focus on the EYE This has to be the area that is in focus all the time, cliche as it may seem, but this is the key to your photograph. Focus on it.
#3 Make them FOCUS Now this is to remove the deer in the headlights look. It will allow the viewers to connect more to the photograph.
#4 Camera Angle and Lens choice Just remember these basic rules. Camera angle for portraits should be eye level or above with the correct focal length of 85mm to 135 Full frame or crop equivalent. Half body should be chest area, full body should be waist.
#5 Talk to your subjects. I don’t believe in assuming characters specially for my field. An ordinary person would have a harder time doing this. Best it make them feel real emotions.
