Bird Photography Tips on the Beach, photographing running Turnstones. I love photographing these busy little birds. Today I'm trying to capture action shots as they run along the beach. As well as achieving sharp images, my challenge is to capture their reflections in the wet sand. I'm using a Canon 1DX and Canon 400mm f/5.6 lens, hand-held. For full body shots I'm using a single centre focus point. When going for wider shots, with reflections, I'm using a top focus point. I'm using Manual Exposure, setting both shutter speed and aperture, and using Auto ISO withe some exposure compensation as necessary.
