Today I'll take you through the simple steps of getting dogs onto an object when working with clients' dogs in less than 2-3 minutes to give you perfect confident "dog on a log" or "dog on a rock" photos for the client gallery. Not all dogs should be put onto objects so use your brain please and check the safety note below!
These dog photography tips and tricks are ones that I use on my own client dog shoots and if you follow closely, you should have no problem getting any dog onto an object. The dogs used in this video are not model trained, so don't panic when facing a similar situation, you will still be able to get your client's dogs onto an object with little to no difficulty.
⚠️⚠️ Safety Note: If you are not confident handling dogs, or your insurance does not cover you doing so, or the owner would prefer you not to, then you need to talk the client through this process. I do both depending on the dog in front of me at the time. If in doubt, let the owner handle the dog. ⚠️⚠️
Please please please ensure you are using a safe and sturdy object and that they're happy throughout - dog welfare comes first, always.
