I dragged myself out of my pit at 4am & headed off to the Peak district hoping the forecast was right & there would be some fog , or at the very least , a little bit of mist . I drove down through Hathersage & hit a wall of fog which started to clear as I drover toward Castleton . My instinct had been to turn round & head back up to Surprise view but the devil on my shoulder was insistent I should carry on to Winnats , just in case.....
WOW ! What a sight , as I drove up the Pass the fog got thicker then started to break & I could see the color behind me starting to build . I abandoned Maddie in the 1st available space & attempted to rush up the hill to a decent vantage point , along with probably 10 other photographers ! I pushed right on past them to get a clearer view of the Cement works Chimney wishing I'd left home about 20 mins earlier . The color began to fade as the sun rose , the compositions were limited at my chosen spot but you live & learn . I then headed off in the hope of finding the remnants of fog down in Padley gorge but it had lifted so back up to Surprise view & into battle with the midges...little blighters were swarming & out in force . I made it out with just the 14 bites this time !
