Let's embark on crafting the Moonlit Blues Leech, inspired by the mesmerizing blue metallic tungsten bead. Equipped with a size 8 ML L56 hook and 12 OOT Nano Silk, we're ready for some fly tying action using the Nor Vise for the first time!
First, secure the tungsten bead at the hook's front end, forming a neat dam with Nano Silk. A pro tip: Nano Silk doesn't bulk up much, ensuring a slim foundation for your fly.
Now, onto the tail! Select Nature Spirit's Fish Hunter Marabou in silver done, known for its UV properties. Keep the tail sparse; measure it to about 1.83 times the hook's length and fasten it securely.
Next up is the dubbing, using Simple Fly Iced-Up in blue to match the bead. Create a loose body, making sure it's not too tight. A nice, even underbody is essential.
Time for the Marabou dub loop. Using the Stomp Flow dubbing tool, spin it with two strands of Nano Silk. This provides a durable yet flexible structure for your fly. Palmer the Marabou forward, ensuring it goes backward to mimic lifelike movement.
Finish with a neat head behind the bead, securing it with three tight wraps and trimming off any excess. Give it a coat of UV resin to add extra durability and polish to your Moonlit Blues Leech.
