On today's Monster Hobbies Model Car Garage we will be looking at The Highway Scenes 1969 Ford Talledega With Die-Cut Diner from Revell/Monogram. This is a model car unboxing video.

Highways aren't made of asphalt and concrete alone. Highways are made of people, the people who live on them, work on them and travel on them. Highway 66 crossed the United States from the farmlands of Illinois to the oceanfront of California, and somewhere in between, the heart and soul of America lay in the cities and the towns that grew up along her shoulders.

And when it was decided that she was no longer useful and could be replaced by the newly emerging high-speed interstate system, a curious thing happened. People began to realize that with the closing of Highway 66, something very special had been lost. It had been if a chapter was torn out of the middle of a story, the story of america and the people who lived along her most famous road. thanks to those who have worked so hard to save this legendary road, Highway 66 will never die and in the hearts of all who knew her, she will forever be .. the Mother Road.

In recent years, the humble diner has gone from being a quick place to grab a bite to eat to becoming a veritable icon of American culture studied by scholars and artists alike. Books have been written about it, films have been made about it and it's been glorified on canvas by an ever growing number of legitimate American painters. Who would have ever predicted that one day groups of of people would actually pile into buses and scour the countryside on organized tours looking for old diners to photograph? the diner is fast disappearing from the American Highway, but these few that remain have gained a very special place in the hearts of their devoted followers.

A 1969 Ford Talledega, with its super-speedway styling and 335 hp Cobra Jet 428, is the perfect vehicle for a diner hunting trip!

The original version of this model kit in this video came out in 1988 and has remained the same ever since. This special limited edition version came with Gerry's Diner as a die-Cut cardboard diorama. The car is molded in gray, clear, transparent red and chrome. It also includes vinyl tires.

Although this model kit can only be built factory stock, it has over 90 parts and includes many separate pieces to make up the whole model kit. The model is simple to assemble and has the same high quality as the Revell Mustang Cobra Jet and Revell Shelby Mustang kits reviewed previously on this channel. Modelers are treated to a 428 super motor with single quad intake manifold. The engine consists of over 23 pieces.

The instructions for the Highway Scenes 1969 Ford Talledega With Die-Cut Diner from Revell/Monogram are very straight-forward and include color call-outs for the engine block, wheels and interior, suspension, manifolds and exhaust pipes and other such items. If you do not have the The 1969 Ford Talledega Factory Paint Chart sheet, you will need to do some research to discover what the 1969 Ford factory colors were if you wish to match colors to Ford factory specifications. Your local Ford dealership or autobody repair shop should be able to assist you with these paint codes.

The tires are the correct Goodyear Polyglass GT's that were first introduced in 1967 on american Cars. The stock wheels are shared with the Ford Torino Cobra and many Mustangs of the same era.

The detail on the plastic parts are crisp and clear and go together quite easily. It would be a good kit for someone just moving up from snap-together kits to glue kits without having too many parts to overwhelm the new builder.

The mulit-piece interior includes the package shelf, kick panel, floor and door panels. It benefits from the individually molded interior door panels, bench front seat and rear seat, instrument panel, steering column and steering wheel that Revell was producing in the steel molds, resulting in consistent door panel features and persistent detail in window winder cranks and door handles.

The chrome on this model kit is excellent and really enhances the look of the finished car. To finish off the chrome on the body, I recommend using Bare Metal Foil and a brand new no.11 hobby blade.

Overall, the Highway Scenes 1969 Ford Talledega With Die-Cut Diner from Revell/Monogram is an excellent model kit that goes together very well. The fit and finish of the kit overall is so great that it is a joy to build. I love the instrument cluster!

The Revell/Monogram 1969 Ford Talledega model car kit has been released a few times over the years with this diner being a limited run collector's series.
