Use the needles that the yarn calls for.
Loop Stitch: Knit the next stitch without taking it off the left needle. Now you have the same stitch with one loop on the right needle and one on the left needle. Bring working yarn to the front, place your left thumb on top of the yarn and wrap it. Place your yarn to the back and knit the left stitch. Then the right stitch goes over the last one.
